Millions of moviegoers will never look at a full moon the same way again. The new horror movie "The Wolfman" came into theaters this past weekend, causing quite a stir as it howled its way onto the big screen.
Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro and Hugo Weaving come together in the remake of the classic tale of a village being terrorized by a giant and vicious creature, half man and half wolf, in the nearby woods.
With studios throwing out superhero dramas and alien action-thrillers like candy, "The Wolfman" comes as a breath of fresh air and an interesting change of pace. Director Joe Johnston's previous work includes "Jumanji" (1995) and "Jurassic Park 3" (2001), so plenty of chase scenes and frightening special effects are sure to be expected.
It is nice to go back to a classic monster tale that hasn't been redone since 1941. These days, it seems the only werewolves to make the silverscreen either have their shirts off fighting vampires or caught up in love triangles.
Both Hopkins and Del Toro are fans of the original monster movie, so it was no surprise that both men signed up immediately to bring this new tale of suspense and horror to life.
Although it was originally slated for an early 2009 release, the movie was pushed back multiple times due to budget issues and poor marketing choices.
