Controversy continues over award

In response to David McCuan's article and misleading headline, "Reed gets a bit richer", readers should know that upon acceptance of the award, Chancellor Reed donated the $25,000 award to the CSU Hearst Scholarship Fund that provides annual scholarships for deserving students on every CSU campus.
In addition, Chancellor Reed has personally given an additional $51,000 toward the scholarship fund.
The Harold W. McGraw Jr. Prize in Education honorees are chosen by a distinguished board of judges from the education community, and this year individuals were chosen for their work in paving the way for increased higher education access and success for students.
