Free English as second language classes
Sonoma State University is offering 10 weeks of free English as a Second Language classes to the community from March 6 to May 3. The classes will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the Rohnert Park campus in Stevenson 3044.

Writers at Sonoma Presents
On Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m., writers Maxine Chernoff and Marjorie Stein will be in the Prelude in the GMC. Maxine Chernoff is author of six books of fiction and 13 books of poetry, she edits the long-running literary journal "New American Writing," and is co-translator of "The Selected Poems of Friedrich Hölderlin.

The Sonoma County Airport Expansion Project? Gravel mining in the Russian River? Job prospects at the Airport business park? Yes folks, it is time once again for Sonoma State seniors in the Planning Workshop class to publically present the first half of their 2011-12 class project: the Existing Conditions Report for the Sonoma County Airport and Environs.

Professors debate presidential election
Sonoma State University's political science and economics departments are partnering to shed light on both the economic issues and the political challenges faced by the US in this election. Dr. Robert Eyler, an economics professor and Frank Howard Allen Realtors Research Fellow at SSU, will direct questions to a group of four panelists made of professors about the domestic and international economic issues the next president of the United States will face.

Breast cancer awareness night
On Saturday, Feb. 11, Sonoma State University will host its inaugural "Pink Zone" game when the Seawolves take on the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros at The Wolves' Den. Pink Zone is a nationwide women's basketball initiative to raise breast cancer awareness on campus and in the community.

The Dannon Company announces Probiotics Fellow Program to support academic exploration of probiotics
The Dannon Company has announced the launch of the Dannon Probiotics Fellow Program to support the education of a student who excels in science and shows a strong interest in probiotics studies. The company will award a scholarship equivalent to one year's tuition (up to $25,000) to a current or incoming graduate student to enhance his or her academic path in this field.
