The Seawolves narrowly escaped with a victory as they defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday night by a score of 83-78.
SSU took a 49-26 lead into the half due in no small part to their outstanding shooting from the field (78%). Then came the second half.
The team struggled to find their rhythm and allowed the Toros to get within four points with only four minutes left, but held off the comeback with seven straight freethrows, five by Chris Getty.
Saturday night against Cal State Pomona was more of the same, but with different results. The Seawolves came out on fire and shot 63.6% from the field in the first half, but only shot 35.7% in the second half.
They battled back from an early second half deficit to take a four-point lead with 6:45 left in the game, but failed to hold on as the Broncos rallied to win 77-72.
The team returns home for a Wednesday, Feb. 8 match-up against 0-18 San Francisco State who were blown out by Pomona 99-52 on Friday.
The Seawolves then hit the road again to take on 7-12 Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, Feb. 10.
