Smooth legs, short skirts, long hair, and killer dance moves, what more could a guy want? Lovely ladies dancing on stage in high heels with high fashion. Loud music and a free show of hot chicks is a definite on a Thursday night. There's just one minor detail: they're dudes.

Gender Bender 2006 is full of great music and even greater performances. Rest assured, these divas are ready for their close-up.

Gender Bender is the annual drag show put on by BIGLASS-QTS. Fun, frisky, and frivolous, the show is a guaranteed eye-opener. This year's show will involve talented acts, a raffle of gay-friendly prizes, and an after party full of fabulous dance music.

Several acts of males-to-females and females-to-males are sure to be entertaining. Performances range from golden oldies to the latest and greatest music. Even yours truly will take the stage for a little choreographed number.

Siobhán Byrne, a member of BIGLASS, says that Gender Bender is one of her favorite events of the year. "Gender Bender is basically to have fun while breaking all the gender rules. The cool part is that anyone can participate: gay, straight, queer, or not."

A mainstay of queer tradition, all of the acts are lip-synced. The show brings to life the spirit of cult classics like "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

This year's event will open with something never done before. Ladies and gentlemen (and all those in between), I give you…Turbo Justice & the Rockinauts! A local Rohnert Park band, these guys are like nothing you've ever heard before. With elaborate costumes and a spacey sound, Turbo Justice & the Rockinauts are ready for their out of this world opening number. More info on turbojustice.com.

Mark DiMattei, a student here on National Student Exchange and member of BIGLASS, was asked to be the MC for the event. DiMattei said, "I'm a little nervous, but I've hosted drag shows before. Coming from Massachusetts, doing one in California will be a fun and exciting experience."
