Dear Liberal Editor,

I am writing in response to last week's article "Putting class back in the classroom." I find the criticism of expensive materials for class flawed. First off, if a student cannot afford to go to college, there is finical aid, and those that qualify will also get a stipend for books and other things. It is illogical to ask a professor to spend their time catering to stingy students who have the money but wish not to spend it on education. Those "less wealthy" are generally those of the middle class who did not qualify for that stipend, and are complaining for no reason at all.
If they get their way, they will be lowering the quality of education for the "more wealthy" students or in reality, those students that would rather spend money on books than for frivolous other things.
It is even more appalling that the writer suggests students to resort to piracy by photocopying copyrighted materials. It is highly illegal even for personal use. One reason why some educational books cost so much is due to a lack of demand. In essence students that photocopy books are contributing to the higher cost of books for others.
It is absurd to use the rich vs. poor card in the article due to the fact that financial aid offsets it. What's next? How about an article complaining that smarter students will get a better grade than average students? Life isn't fair so get over it.
