Halftime proves difference for basketball squads

After falling behind 14 points at the break, the men's basketball team couldn't recover and remained winless with a 75-55 loss Saturday at Cal State San Bernardino.
The loss drops the SSU men to 0-4 overall and a 0-2 CCAA record. Patrick Mitchell led the team with 13 points, and J.T. Tipton added eight points and six rebounds.
The men will look to rebound this weekend when they host the Sixth Annual Ron Logsdon Classic.
Finally able to hold a halftime lead, the women's basketball team routed Cal State San Bernardino down south, 68-51, dealing the Coyotes their first loss of the season.
The first win of the campaign for the SSU women improves their record to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in CCAA play. Leading the way was Chelsey Armacost with 15 points, and Danae Wellander and Vanessa Wilt added 12 and 13, respectively.
