SSU used different winning formulas this past weekend to capture their first three games of the 2007 season, all against the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters. The Seawolves eased to a 6-1 win in their season and home opener on Friday, Feb. 2, scoring five times in the first inning on two doubles and three singles. Juniors Nick Nosti and Tyrese McDaniel and senior Chase McGuire all had multiple hits in their Seawolf debuts.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, the SSU men dominated late in Game One of a doubleheader, winning 11-2, and then outlasting the Otters 4-3 in ten innings in the nightcap.

Early on, Game One appeared to be a pitcher's duel, but thanks to another big inning late that featured ten runs, the Seawolves cruised to victory. They would, however, find themselves down one run, late in the second contest, but not for long. Outfielder Jason Buhagiar belted a solo homer to tie the game. Then, in the bottom of the tenth, pinch-runner Derek Harms scooted home for the game-winner, after the Otter third baseman let the baseball get away.
