When I walked into Café Zazzle, tucked away in downtown Petaluma, I could not contain my excitement for the delicious food I smelt and the upbeat new age music I heard. My roommate Amy and I were seated and surrounded by modern artwork. When asked what we wanted to drink, we both replied in sync, "ice tea," which is my favorite. Our drinks arrived almost instantly.
After Amy scanned the menu she decided to get the Santa Fe Wrap, but with such a wide variety of food, it took me a while to decide what I wanted. This was unusual to me since I am almost always certain what to order. Amy ordered right away but I just could not make up my mind. I asked the waitress what she suggested, the Beef Teriyaki Wrap or the Three Cheese Penne. Both sounded very appetizing so whatever she said I would definitely go with. "The three cheese penne is probably your best bet," she said, after struggling to decide.
The iced tea was amazing. Nowadays, I find it difficult to find iced tea that is so full flavor and zest. I drank the first glass and in no time the waitress was back with a refill. She told us that they made their tea fresh daily.
I was blown away with the presentation of the cafe. The back wall had an interesting array of colors from floor to ceiling, with beautiful pastel colors resembling the waves in the ocean. One side of the restaurant was lined with simple modern lamps that romantically lit the café and the other side was home to a fine assortment of alcoholic beverages. Red bricks and vintage artwork lined another wall.
After chatting for a while, Amy and I received our food which looked and smelled incredible. I could hardly believe my eyes when my Three Cheese Penne was placed before me. The portion size was amazing for a price tag of $9.25. I could not help but eye Amy's Santa Fe Wrap. Luckily, she shared a bite of it with me. I was amazed that something wrapped almost completely in vegetables could be so tasty. Who would think a restraint could make vegetables appetizing? The wrap had a zesty cilantro-jalapeño sauce inside that wasn't too spicy yet had a little tang to it.
