The Seawolves, now ranked number 12 in the nation, continued their domination of Cal State Monterey Bay over the weekend in yet another sweep, moving their all-time record against the Otters to a perfect 18-0. The Seawolves move to 17-1 on the season and a flawless 13-0 at Seawolf Diamond.
The weekend proved to be another offensive explosion for the Seawolves, scoring 35 runs in the four game series. SSU is batting .335 as a team and has outscored their opponents 173-45.
Game one was highlighted again by senior starting pitcher Matt Means who extended his scoreless streak to 14 innings, striking out five en route to his third win on the year. Means has only given up seven hits in nearly 28 innings of work. Catcher Ian Bridges knocked in five RBI's in the 10-0 victory.
Game two of the series saw the Seawolves nearly drop their first home game, entering the bottom of the ninth down 7-6. Tyrese McDaniel had the tying single before Mark Pestorich hit the game winner down the left field line. Travis Babin picked up the win for SSU.
The back end of the double header had Dave Herman lead the charge by going 3-3 with two homeruns, a double and four RBI's. Matt Garnett came away with the win after throwing 2.2 hitless innings in the 11-6 victory.
The final game of the series was another win for the Seawolves. Trevor Howell blasted his sixth home run of the year and collected RBI number 20, both stats lead the team. Mark Pestorich went 2-3 to lift his batting average to a team high .489, he also leads the team with 22 hits on the year. The 6-2 victory capped an eight game home stand.
The Seawolves will make a road trip down south this weekend to take on the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino. The Coyotes are 10-8 on the season with just a 2-5 record in the CCAA where the Seawolves are a perfect 6-0.
