With spring comes a fresh start, a new semester, and many new fashion trends to both follow and set. Putting together an outfit can be like a work of art: add a little color, the perfect accessory, and you might just have a masterpiece.
"Getting dressed can be a creative outlet. Some people write and some people paint, but I like to shop around for an awesome outfit," said fashionable junior Ashley Bolanos. Bolanos' personal style comes from a mixture of what is trendy and what fits her in all the right places.
"My favorite part about this spring fashion is how fun people can make it. I love when people can be trendy, but keep classic pieces that are timeless and fit well. Confidence is everything," she said.
Many of the fashions coming into play this spring are spin -offs of trends from past spring seasons. Floral patterns have always been indicative of spring and this year is no different. This spring's blurred flowery images separate themselves from the more strict lines of the past.
Consider investing in a floral print cardigan that can be dressed down with a pair of jeans and flats or that can be dressed up with a full skirt or dress.
Bright colors, as well as black with white, are also making a statement this spring.
"Go bold in apple green, fuchsia, and canary and you won't go wrong," said Holli Rogers, head of retail at Net-a-porter.com.
Whether it is a bold, colorful dress or a pop of color from a handbag wearing these colors makes a brave statement.
Junior Monika Collins Endrizzi feels that color is an important part to any outfit. She appreciates pairing simple ideas with special touches.
"I love bright colors! I usually always have a bright color as part of my outfit; I think it adds a little something extra," said Collins Endrizzi.
A combination of black and white is a lucid concept, but is innovative. The combination is said to be "the new black" for spring.
Full skirts and full dresses make for a feminine look this spring. It is easy to fall into the jean routine, but a skirt or dress is an easy way to break the monotony.
