Associated Students Inc. (ASI) elections for student government officer positions are soon approaching for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year.

Elections will be held on Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the Main Quad near Stevenson, the Zinfandel Quad and on Sauvignon Green by Ameci's.

Elected office positions include ASI President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance and 12 senators representing each school within the University, as well as two senators representing undeclared majors.

With elections around the corner, the current ASI officers have just a few more days of their terms left as elected representatives.

"Being involved at Sonoma was a great experience for me," remarked ASI President Whitney Diver. "I would encourage any student who is thinking about getting involved to do it. Actively engaging in the campus community provides numerous opportunities to meet new people, challenge your strengths, and grow not only as a student but as a student leader as well."

Diver, among a few other officers, is graduating this May. Having served as ASI President, Diver plans to use her student government background to help establish her career following college.

"After I graduate, I will be working for Meridian Pacific, a political consulting firm in Sacramento," said Diver.

Although some officers will be leaving SSU this May, other ASI officers are planning to run for reelection.

Jonathan White, Speaker of the Senate and Senator of Business and Economics, is planning to run for President, while other fellow Business and Economics Senator Nicolette Margi will be running for VP of Finance. Also, current VP of Finance Tristan Kelley will be running for Executive VP.
