Previously known as JobConnection, Seawolf Jobs is the latest resource Career Services offers to assist students and alumni in the search for career opportunities. All students, especially graduating seniors, are encouraged by advisors in Career Services to access the new web-based job posting service by registering online.

To aid graduating seniors, Career Services will be hosting a Senior Career Week that includes an interview workshop on Tues. April 22 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Salazar 1018. Students will be able to research employers, learn interview behavior techniques and formulate questions to ask when applying for a job.

Resume tune-ups will be offered Tues. April 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Thurs. April 24 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. One-on-one attention will be given to students who want assistance in perfecting a rough draft of their resume.

A list of employers attending Senior Career Week will be posted outside of Career Services.

"Students should immediately sign up for Seawolf Jobs. There are hundreds of employers who have posted jobs specifically for students," said Career Program Coordinator and Advisor Brent Bynum.

Seawolf Jobs includes the description of various companies, contact information and an application that allows resumes to be uploaded.

When considering an internship, job, or graduate school, those in Career Services suggest students seek the advice of both Career Services and individual department internship coordinators. Speaking with faculty members will help students perfect their networking skills and gain letters of recommendation.

"Students should talk to advisors in Career Services early on. You should start as early as junior year," said senior psychology major Yassi Taromi.

After graduating this spring, Taromi plans to take a year off from school and gain experience working in a law firm before attending law school. Her ultimate goal is to set up a foundation that would help women in the Middle East.

"Compile a list of the requirements for each school you are applying to. Get background info and look around to get an idea of what works," said Taromi.

Visiting Career Services gives individuals the opportunity to flip through stacks of binders containing internships and jobs related to their field of study. Informational fliers on networking, graduate school and a copy of Job Choices for Business and Liberal Arts Students magazine are just a few of the resources available.
