If you're having a hard time with school or just need a reason to get outdoors and do something, you can always find an exciting adventure with OutDoor Pursuits.

OutDoor Pursuits (ODP) has two major trips coming up in April and one in early May. Both of this month's ODP events will be held on Saturday, April 19.

The Full Moon Kayaking trip will take students on a kayaking adventure on Tomales Bay at sunset, then continue up Point Reyes National Seashore after sunset in the light of the moon, which will be high in the sky that evening. Participation in this trip, however, will put you out $120.

The other event on April 19 is Bouldering Turtle Rock. The cost is $38, with lunch and transportation included.

"It's an option for people who want to jump in a van on a Saturday and go to a beautiful spot," said Bob Blaine, student coordinator for ODP and SSU senior.

The day trip involves rope-less climbing in a private area near where Blaine lives. This means that climbers will only have their climbing shoes, chalk and crash pad. The crash pad is a special device that climbers use to lessen the chance of injury.

Reportedly, there is a delightful view of the San Francisco Bay from the top of the rock.

"We're all about trying new things," said Adam Williams, another Student Coordinator for ODP and SSU junior.

"Going to the same places makes the experience less genuine," he added.

This is especially true for those who regularly go on the ODP trips and may, after a semester or two, see the same places. Fortunately, because of the variety in trips this semester, repetition is easy to avoid.

After the April 19 trips, the next ODP event is Coastal Climbing on May 2-3. Students who sign up for this trip, which only costs $40, will leave on Friday and head out to Goat Rock Beach. When they arrive, they will eat dinner, camp on the beach and rise early the next morning.

On Saturday, the group will hike and climb up and down the beach. After watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, the group will return to SSU.
