"I chose to come to Sonoma State so I wasn't too close to home, but I could still stay in California. I had the option of living far away but not so far that I couldn't visit home during the semester," said Londi Cox, a third year graduating senior. Cox came to Sonoma in fall of 2005 and has been showing her leadership on and off campus ever since.

"I think my favorite thing about going to SSU is the small population of students that allows me to get to know my teachers and in turn my teachers get to know me as well," she said. "I also really enjoy the apartment style dorms, needless to say I have truly enjoyed being here at Sonoma."

Cox is a CSA this year in Alsace in Beaujolais Village. Last year she was the CSA to freshman in Barbera.

"I learned a lot of things during my time being a CSA but probably the most influential of those lessons was being able to have an unbiased approach to problems with my residents as well as time management skills. I learned to get my homework done in a timely fashion so I could dedicate the rest of my time to my residents if they needed me. I also learned how to help mediate situations that I normally wouldn't be involved in."

Cox has also been a summer SOAR leader for incoming freshman. She has also been involved in MORE, an extension of SOAR that extends the experience to a Meaningful Overnight Educational Experience.

Cox is also very involved with Black Scholars United (BSU). She has held previous positions such as the 2007-2008 Events Coordinator which means that she is responsible for putting on special events for BSU as well as brainstorming for future club events and also acts as a liaison between active members and members of the Executive Board.

"I'm also involved in an African American women's group called As We Gather," said Cox. "This club helps African American women in the school and community to get together once a month for a social dinner to interact and just connect with each other as independent women."
