You may have heard them called party animals, liars, and players, but deep down they are just a group of guys who want to have fun. That's right, they are our very own fraternities here at SSU.

I have only been to a few fraternity parties, which I happened to have a lot of fun at, but the only fraternity that I seemed to really enjoy and that really stuck out was the one and only, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity or who are better known as SAE.

These guys were the exact opposite of what I had pictured them to be. I thought they were going to be very into themselves and stuck up, but it turned out that some of them were actually pretty cute and super nice!

A very well known fact about young men in fraternities is that they like to drink and party, however, it's a very stereotypical way to think. I happened to be one of those people that thought that way.

I used to think they were just a bunch of guys who thought they were better than everyone, but after hanging around them I got to see a side that they don't seem to get too much credit for.

They have good hearts. And aside from them being wild sometimes, there is also a kinder and mature side to them.

They do all sorts of things for the community. Just last weekend they put on an event, SAE Recess, which was for the sororities to compete in activities that were played during recess. Each sorority paid $200 to compete and in the end all the proceeds from the event would benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

So why do people think these guys are so bad? They are humans, just like you and just like me. They help out with the community, which I happen to think is great, and who also happen to have a little fun, just like everyone else. I believe everyone needs a little spice in their lives and they just happen to have their own way of having a good time.

Being in a fraternity is a lot more work than what people have it out to be. They not only put on events and fundraisers, but they are also a family. A family that looks out for one another and makes sure that everyone is doing well and keeping up their grades.

I honestly think that if people would just open their eyes they will see that fraternities are actually a lot of fun, especially if you get to know them. You'll realize that they are just like everyone else.

They might have their moments sometimes, but then again who doesn't? I believe that the people who talk down on them don't seem to really know what they are talking about.

So even though some people might choose to not like fraternities, they should think about the saying, "you can't put something down unless you have never tried it." And in this case, you can't say you don't like a fraternity unless you have actually hung out with them and really gotten to know them!

I just read your comment on the artilce i wrote about fraternities, and i think you miss understood what i had said. First off, i never said that all frats do is drink and party, that was the one thing i tried to get my readers to not think about when they thought about fraternities. (Continued…)
