The women of the SSU Lacrosse club team were welcomed with open arms at the Division Championships where they landed themselves in the finals against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, but unfortunately drew a loss by a score of 9-3.

"The best part of our championship weekend was working hard together as a team in the semi-final game," said Senior Rachelle Zemlok. "When the whistle blew at the end of the game and we knew we were going to the championship game, our whole team ran into one big huddle jumping, cheering and hugging, I can't even put into words how awesome that feeling was."

In order to get to the finals, the Seawolves had to take on University of California Santa Barbara and came out successful with a final score of 6-5.

"It is hard to explain what it was like going to the championships but all I was thinking was, 'I hope I play well and I don't let my team down'," said Stacey Sniderhan. "Most of all I was so proud of my team. After we beat UCSB and we were going to the championship game I realized we were a real contender in this league for the first time."

Team captains Eva Oliver, Ashley McCue, and Megan Robinson led their team to complete success throughout the season because of their leadership skills and dedication to each of their team members. This dedication of the team as a whole got them to the division championship.

During their championship tournament, three women were honored as B-Division All Stars, Alex Perry, Ashley McCue, and Sniderhan.

"It feels amazing to be an All Star but I definitely could not have done it without my team," said Sniferhan. "At practice they would shoot on me like they would on game day and they only expected nothing but the best from me."

On top of making it to the championships at the end of their season, the Seawolves will also be losing four seniors but look to make up for these losses next season. The seniors leaving are Caitlin Madrigal, Britney Cranmer, Megan Robinson, and Zemlok.
